Read slowly: Acts 18:24–28. Notice how Apollos's gifts and his need to learn appear together.
Apollos knows the Scriptures, speaks well, and teaches with enthusiasm. Yet his understanding is incomplete. Priscilla and Aquila take him aside and explain the way of God more accurately.
Luke does not treat the need for correction as proof that Apollos's gifts were false. Nor do those gifts make further learning unnecessary. A private conversation helps a capable teacher become more useful to others.
We may find correction especially difficult in an area where people already regard us as knowledgeable. Admitting a gap can feel like losing the respect we have worked to earn. The instinct to defend our reputation may become stronger than our desire to understand.
Apollos's story offers a better hope. Receiving help can strengthen the very work we care about. Priscilla and Aquila also show how to offer it: they address the need without making public embarrassment the method.
Whether we are learning or helping someone else learn, the person's good matters more than winning the moment. Accuracy and kindness can serve each other.

Practice: Ask a trusted person for feedback on one specific area of your work or understanding. Listen fully before explaining your reasons.

Prayer: Lord, keep me humble about what I know and grateful for those who help me grow. Teach me to receive correction and offer it with care. Amen.
